Has any consideration been given to adding support for progressively updating the WinForm map control (when in local data mode), instead of waiting until all the map is ready to be shown?
I have used other map controls which keep painting the control every few milliseconds, with more and more detail. This allows for smoother zoom in and out, and makes the UI more responsive. The painting should occur in the UI thread, but the composition in a background thread.
